Rhizobium Symbiosis Leads to Increased Drought Tolerance in Chinese Milk Vetch (Astragalus sinicus L.)
نویسندگان
چکیده
Chinese milk vetch (Astragalus sinicus L.) is an important leguminous green manure that frequently suffers from seasonal drought. To improve its drought tolerance, the effects of rhizobia inoculation on tolerance and underlying physiological mechanism were investigated. Drought in combination with nitrogen assimilation, free amino acids, polyamines was investigated active nodules (AN), inactive (LN), or without (NN). AN plants had increased compared to LN NN plants. Glutamine synthetase (GS), glutamine 2-oxoglutarate transferase (GOGAT), glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) activities decreased after drought, higher levels than under both control stress conditions. Higher proline (Pro), arginine (Ala), alanine (Glu) observed Putrescine (Put), spermidine (Spd), spermine (Spm) response Put Spd maintained It suggested nodulation leads vetch, which associated improved fixation ammonium turn lead promotion amino-acid polyamine synthesis.

Chromosome number and karyotype of Astragalus stereocalyx Bornm. (Milk-vetch) in the section Stereocalyx Bornm. distributing naturally in Turkey were analyzed in detail. This species is endemic to Turkey and growing in Eskişehir and Konya provinces. Squash preparation method was used for chromosome study in this species. The somatic chromosome number was determined as 2n = 16 in A. stereocalyx....
متن کاملCuring of symbiotic plasmid of Mesorhizobium huakuii subsp. rengei isolated from Astragalus sinicus.
Astragalus sinicus (Chinese Milk vetch), a green manure leguminous plant, harbors Mesorhizobium huakuii subsp. rengei strain B3 in the root nodules. The visualization of symbiotic plasmid of strain B3 showed the presence of one sym plasmid of about 425 kbp. Curing of sym plasmid by temperature and acrydine orange was studied. Growing rhizobial cells at high temperature (37 degrees C) or treatin...
متن کاملThe involvement of a cysteine proteinase in the nodule development in Chinese milk vetch infected with Mesorhizobium huakuii subsp. rengei.
Cys proteinases play important roles in plant cell development and senescence. A cDNA, AsNODf32, obtained by differential screening of a nodule cDNA library of the leguminous plant Chinese milk vetch (Astragalus sinicus), represents a nodule-specific Cys proteinase similar to that reported for the actinorhizal Alnus glutinosa-Flankia symbiosis. A characteristic feature of this proteinase is the...

Drought is the most significant constraint for crop production in arid and semi-arid regions. In order to assess drought tolerance in fifteen rapeseed (Brassica napus) cultivars using yield-based drought tolerance indices, two experiments were conducted at the research station of College of Agriculture, Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran during 2009-2010 growing season. The cultivars were...
